Dara

We entered a school much smaller than ours but with more grades. It was the private school on the reservation. We all quickly hurried to the bathrooms! Ah, finally at last we were able to feel a little more fresh and ready to go and learn some more. We split into two groups. I was in the group that went to the history classroom. Right away you could tell who was from what school by who sat by whom but that would change, and quick! Their teacher quickly made sure we were by people we hadn’t already met, but soon would know. I sat next to Calena. She likes to play volleyball; she was also new, (as of November) because before she went to the public school. She gave me a really good “real” sense of how life on the reservation was. How at the other school there were a lot of gangs and fights so you had to be careful and how this school was very good about teaching he their cultural language and the other school didn’t really have a lot of the proper people to teach them that. The teacher began to tell us what she taught the kids when it came to history and it wasn’t really different from what we learn except for they were further ahead in history than us.
