Lindsey

After that, we went into Liz’s classroom to talk with the students about our similarities and differences. I met Rose, a girl my age who dances at Pow-wows. She was very nice, and we both found we like to write poetry. She made me realize that even thought culturally we’re different, we still could relate. After lunch and some time playing on the school (which I’m jealous of, because we don’t get a playground) it was time to conduct the interviews. Here’s where that worried about saying something stupid feeling comes back in. Liz was really nice about everything and told us a bunch of cool stories. I didn’t make a huge fool of myself, and after the interview we had an interesting conversation about accents. Over all, the reservation made me realize how important culture is to the Menominee. It was a great experience and I’m glad I could go.
